VISION
Regional excellence in the practice of Project Management through modern, structured management of projects concepts that are widely recognized and consistently applied
The Chennai Chapter will
     
  • Provide a forum for Project Managers to promote the principles of the Project Management Institute through networking with other chapters in other states of India and neighboring countries
         
  • Facilitate the project management community to share project experiences
         
  • Provide training in the core competency and advanced knowledge areas of project management to the ever growing population of the project managers
         
  • Support PMP® in their certification efforts
         
  • Support PMP® in their post certification efforts to share the knowledge gained with the community.
         
  • Support and provide training in project management at school and university levels.

Birth of a chapter in Chennai:
     The Sponsor Dr. P.N. Sridharan initiated the process of establishing a new PMI® - affiliated chapter in Chennai, with his views.
Purpose :
      To generate awareness about compiled wisdom and state-of-the-art knowledge and practices - To develop expertise, build competence and showcase best practices, - To perform research and advance the frontiers of knowledge in project management.
Types of Projects ( stakeholders' interests):
     Construction projects ( Industry and infrastructure) - Software projects - Trade & Commerce projects - Business projects ( mergers & acquisitions, tendering, technology transfer, marketing and sales campaigns) - Organizational projects ( performance evaluation, process reengineering, promotion) - Socioeconomic projects - Cultural projects ( temple renovation, cultural festivals, movie-making) - Educational projects.
Activities :
     Training programs - Competitions - Expert lectures/seminars - Conferences - Research & Publications - Field visits - Demonstrations - Examinations and certification support.
